However, raw steel is vulnerable. That is why every Nova steel gate undergoes Hot Dip Galvanization—submerging the entire frame in molten zinc at 450°C. This bonds a protective alloy coating to the steel, preventing rust from the inside out for decades.
The choice for contemporary homes. Aluminium is naturally resistant to corrosion and significantly lighter than steel, putting less strain on automation motors and hinges. This allows for wider spans and sleek, “privacy” style designs with full infill.
We finish our aluminium gates with a Qualicoat Class 2 Powder Coating. This baked-on finish is resistant to UV fading, scratching, and salt air, making it the ultimate low-maintenance solution.
A tracked sliding gate runs on wheels along a steel track bolted to the driveway floor. It is mechanically simple and robust but requires a perfectly level surface free of debris.
A cantilever gate is suspended above the driveway, counterbalanced by a longer tail section. It requires no ground track, making it perfect for gravel driveways, sloping ground, or industrial entrances where heavy vehicles might damage a floor track.
Electric gates require a mains supply (usually 230V) run from your house to the gate location. This must be an armoured cable buried correctly. Our team can handle the trenching and cabling as part of the project, or we can liaise with your electrician if you are undergoing a larger renovation.
Absolutely, providing they are installed correctly. We adhere to the Machinery Directive and strict UK safety standards. This involves installing safety photocells (beams) that prevent the gate closing if the beam is broken, and resistive safety edges that stop the motor instantly upon contact. We force-test every gate upon commissioning.
Yes. An automated gate is a moving machine exposed to the elements. We recommend an annual service to lubricate moving parts, check safety edge resistance, and clear photocells of insects/debris. Our service plans extend the lifespan of your system and ensure your warranty remains valid.
